One of my favourite sayings in photography is “when capturing the most beautiful subjects, the hard work is already done”. The same applies to Horse and Equestrian Photography and Videography.
With animals that ooze natural beauty from foal to fully grown, it’s almost impossible to take a bad photo. However, sometimes you need somebody with a little more understanding of the nature and behaviour of these magnificent animals.
Experience and Confidence in an Equine Setting
Prior to early 2023 I had very little experience with horses. Being completely transparent, I found them as intimidating as they are beautiful. As a result I tried to keep my distance and any photos taken were always from afar.
Fortunately I had the pleasure of being introduced to them properly by Chloe Bartram. Chloe being a highly experienced rider who trains and competes in a variety of equestrian disciplines.
I quickly learned that these giants of the domesticated animal kingdom, are for the most part gentle. With that in mind, my fear turned to enthusiasm and enthusiasm into a passion.
My Photo and Video Work with Horses
Throughout 2024 I have been fortunate to travel the UK and capture footage and photos for an array of businesses, stables, yards and more.
From one of the UK’s largest Welsh Cob Auctions at Brynithon Stud in Wales. Hosted by McCartney’s Equine Auctioneers. To using my videography expertise and skillset to capture a promotional film for the British Horse Society.
