Last week I had the pleasure of working with Yudhish and Charles from Search Birmingham. One of the midlands most renowned and successful SEO agencies. The pair did a fantastic job of organising the conference. A well organised conference always makes for easier event photography and videography.
Upon arrival at the Park Royal hotel in Birmingham Yudhish greeted me at reception. He politely invited me to a pre-conference gathering on the 16th floor overlooking the city skyline. We also scoped out the other areas to be used over the course of the two day event.

How to prepare for event photography in a nutshell
Knowing your setting, lighting and being prepared makes for easy shooting when the time comes. Understanding the nature of the event and discussions always helps to. Being clued up on the topics allows you to get a better idea of what to capture and when.
I never go into an event without knowing who is speaking, when they’re due to take to the stage and of course do a Q&A. This is vital for capturing key moments and crowd engagement through the talks.
Keeping an eye out for attendee engagement is also vital for great event photography and videography. Capture those elusive natural moments make your finished works complete. This can be anything from laughing at jokes, handshakes or even a high five.
Make event photography personal
People are what make events. It’s the individuals involved in organising. Those in the know who deliver topics and each and every person in the crowd. Every single person in attendance brings something unique and special to the event. Themselves.
Although capturing the bigger picture highlights the scale of the event. Capturing individuals in their moment is my favourite way to highlight the impact of a conference or seminar on each and every person.
